Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman was admitted to a hospital in Chennai after experiencing dehydration and neck pain following his travels, his team confirmed. However, doctors have found no major health concerns, and the 58-year-old music maestro is expected to be discharged later today.

Rahman’s team dismissed circulating rumors that he was hospitalized due to chest pain or heart-related issues. “It’s fake news. Rahman was admitted only because of dehydration and neck pain caused by travel,” they clarified.

The legendary composer has been keeping busy with multiple music projects and live performances. Last month, he joined international pop star Ed Sheeran during the Chennai leg of the Mathematics Tour, where they performed a unique remix of Shape of You and Rahman’s iconic Urvasi. Following the event, Sheeran shared his excitement on Instagram, calling it an “honor” to share the stage with Rahman.

Rahman is currently composing music for Tere Ishq Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. The film, directed by Anand L. Rai, is a spiritual sequel to the 2013 hit Raanjhanaa.

Meanwhile, Rahman’s ex-wife, Saira Banu, was recently hospitalized for a medical emergency and underwent surgery. The news was shared by her lawyer, Vandana Shah. The couple announced their separation on November 19, 2024, after nearly 29 years of marriage.
